Terms of service
CPT Trainer (the "service") is a study tool for students preparing for the ISSA Certified Personal Trainer exam, run by Ben Tibbs (the "operator"). By creating an account, buying access or getting access with a promotion code, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. What the service is
The service helps you learn the vocabulary of a personal training course through practice questions, flashcards, browsing and progress tracking. It is a study aid. It is not a substitute for the course, for the certifying body's materials, or for professional medical, fitness or legal advice. It does not guarantee any exam result.
2. Who may use it
The service is for people preparing for the exam who sign in and buy access, get it with a promotion code, or use the free trial. You must be at least 16 years old.
3. Accounts
Opening the app requires signing in with Google, so your access and your progress follow you between devices. You are responsible for the account you sign in with. You may sign out at any time and may ask the operator to delete your account and synced progress as described in the privacy policy.
4. Purchases
- Price. Two passes are on sale: 3 months of access for $49 and 1 month of access for $29 (US dollars). The price is shown before you pay. A future price change never affects access you have already bought.
- What a month means. Access runs for the calendar months you buy, from the moment your payment is confirmed, to the same date and time of day that many months later. Paid on 7 October at 3 pm, a 3-month pass runs until 7 January at 3 pm, and a 1-month pass until 7 November at 3 pm. When the later month is shorter, access ends on its last day: a 1-month pass paid on 31 January runs until 28 February (29 February in a leap year).
- Buying again. A second pass adds its months to the end of your current access. With a 3-month pass running until 7 January, a 1-month pass bought on 20 December runs your access until 7 February.
- No subscription. Nothing renews and the service never charges your card again on its own. When access ends, the app goes back to the free trial until you buy again. Your progress stays saved on your devices and in your account.
- Refunds. Ask within 7 days of a purchase by emailing the address below from your account's email, and you get a full refund; that purchase's access ends when the refund is made. After 7 days purchases are not refundable, except where the law requires. The operator may change this policy for future purchases.
- Seller and payment processing. The operator, Ben Tibbs, is the seller. Payments are processed by Stripe; your card details go to Stripe and never reach the service.
- Free trial. Any signed-in account without a pass can study Module 1 of the course in the app at no cost, with no card. The trial has no end date, but the operator may change or end it at any time; it never turns into a charge.
- Promotion codes. A promotion code, entered on Stripe's checkout page, can make the 3-month pass free. A free pass from a promotion code is a pass like any other: it runs for 3 calendar months from the moment checkout completes, it adds its months to the end of any access you already have, and nothing renews; no card is asked for and nothing is charged. The 1-month pass does not take promotion codes. The operator may stop a promotion code at any time; a pass already granted stays. There is no payment to refund on a free pass.
5. Course material and intellectual property
Term names, lesson titles and other wording taken from the course belong to their rights holders; do not copy, publish or redistribute them. ISSA is a trademark of its owner; the service is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by ISSA or NCCPT. The app's definitions, explanations, questions, design, code and images are written or made for the service and belong to the operator. You may use them within the service and may not resell or republish them.
6. AI help
If you connect an AI provider (Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini) you do so under your own account with that provider and their terms, and you pay any charges they make. Your key stays in your browser. AI-written questions and explanations can be wrong; the course text wins.
7. Acceptable use
- Do not try to break the access gate, probe the service, or access anyone else's data.
- Do not scrape or bulk-download course text or images.
- Do not use the service in a way that is unlawful or that harms other students.
The operator may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these rules.
8. Availability and changes
The service is provided as it is, when it is available, and may change, pause or stop at any time. Your local progress stays in your browser regardless; export it in Settings to keep a copy you control. If the operator closes the service for good while you have paid access left, you get a refund for the unused part.
9. No warranty and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, and the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on the service, its content or its availability. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
11. Changes to these terms
Updates are posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
