  1. Question 1 of 3

A new coach's sales page has no reviews. She asks five long-time clients for short written testimonials and permission to share their before-and-after results, and adds them under her prices. What is she adding?

    1. Reputation Management
    2. Social Proof
    3. Content Creation
    4. Authenticity
    Show the answer

Answer: Social Proof. Testimonials, reviews and success stories that prove her value to strangers are social proof. Reputation management is the ongoing work of monitoring and shaping how she is seen; these quotes are the evidence itself.

  2. Question 2 of 3

A new client who wants to lose 40 pounds first sets out to walk 7,000 steps a day for the next two weeks, so he can see some early progress. What is the step target?

    1. Short-Term Goal
    2. Vision Statement
    3. Long-Term Goal
    4. Small Wins
    Show the answer

Answer: Short-Term Goal. A target he can reach in the near future to build early progress and confidence is a short-term goal. Small wins are the practice of celebrating minor achievements after they happen; the step target is still ahead of him.

  3. Question 3 of 3

At the end of a consultation, the coach sums up the client's goals and says with confidence, “I'd love to work with you. Let's start Monday at 6, and I'll send the agreement tonight.” Then he waits for her yes. What is he doing?

    1. Clear Agreements
    2. Structured Consultation
    3. Securing the Close
    4. Persuasive Language
    Show the answer

Answer: Securing the Close. Gaining her buy-in and formalizing it with confident, clear words is securing the close. The structured consultation is the whole meeting that leads up to it; this is its final step.

What this module is about

Module 9 is the business side of coaching: how a first conversation becomes a paying client, and how a trainer becomes someone people seek out. For many new trainers this is the least comfortable part of the job, and the module's answer is to treat sales as service. Listen first, help the person see what they want, and then ask plainly whether they want your help getting there.

It follows the order of a real consultation: building rapport, shaping a vision and goals, closing, handling objections, and finally marketing and brand. Several of its ideas build on the conversation skills from Module 8, so the two modules are worth studying side by side.

Scenario questions describe what a coach says or does in a meeting and ask you to name it. The clue is usually the purpose of the move: is it building trust, setting a goal, asking for a decision or answering a doubt?

The five lessons

  1. Consultation & rapport. Running a sales consultation that feels like a conversation: getting to know the person and earning their trust.
  2. Crafting the vision. Helping a client picture what success looks like, and turning that picture into goals near and far.
  3. Securing commitment. Asking for the commitment clearly and confidently, and agreeing on who does what once training starts.
  4. Handling objections. What to do when a prospect hesitates about money, time or confidence, without pressure and without giving up.
  5. Marketing & brand. Getting known: reviews and word of mouth, content, and a personal brand that matches how you actually coach.
